New Doctor Who, New Doctor Who Dolls

So we've had two episodes of Eleven, with one more coming up tomorrow. I must say that I'm amazed with how awesome Eleven is. I mean, I know that I had high hopes / predictions for Matt Smith, but I am still amazed at how he's not only lived up to my expectations but EXCEEDED them.

Not only is Matt Smith an amazing Doctor, but the new TARDIS interior is beautiful, with a lovely sort of steam-punk look to the controls. My favorite part of the new interior TARDIS is the typewriter. I'm crossing my fingers that we get to see more of the inside of the TARDIS, like we got to see in Classic Who.

Add on to this Amy Pond, played by Karen Gillian. When I first saw photographs of her and heard rumors about her character, I wasn't too excited about her. However in the first five seconds of actually seeing her character in The Eleventh Hour I was so happy, and The Beast Below just made me even happier. I can only hope that she continues to be as she is now, not in love with the Doctor but amazing friends with him. Their hug in The Beast Below is beautiful. The Doctor and Amy remind me of the best bits of the Doctor and Donna, with the relationship between them being a friendship instead of the love affair thing that was between the Doctor and Rose or the Doctor and Martha.

To those crazy, crazy people who actually left the show because David Tennant did... I saw shame on you. You've abandoned a brilliant series for no good reason. The actor playing the Doctor may change, but the Doctor himself remains. That's how it always has been, and how I hope it always will be.

So, as you can see, I'm extremely excited about the Eleventh Doctor and the new episodes... which of course means that I must update/complete my Doctor Who doll collection. More Information On Doctor Who Dolls...

So I've started TWO new dolls. They are going to become the Eleventh Doctor and the Master. For the Eleventh Doctor I'm going to be outfitting him with his outfit that he creates in The Eleventh Hour and he continues to wear in The Beast Below. I love his outfit, and kinda want my own version of it....

For the Master, I've decided to go with his outfit from Season 3. That means suit and tie, brown hair... while I do like his crazy look in The End Of Time, I'm not confident that I could make a good crochet version of his hoodie, and blond hair is always tough because they just don't make the right color of yarn!

So I'm working on the Master and the Doctor. Right now one body is 99% done, I just need to add hair. The other body has no head at all, so it's something like 80% finished.

I'm hoping to get the bodies finished today... or at least do everything but the hair. I know the hair takes a while, even though the hairstyles are somewhat easier then some of the other Doctors. For Eleven I'm going to do hair that is similar to Ten, but a bit longer, while the Master is going to have similar hair to Nine.

It's nice to be making dolls again.

Until next time, I remain,
~The BJC
